What’s An Endangered Animal?
October 15th, 2011
What’s an endangered animal? This is an animal that is slowly decreasing in population and becoming harder to find. There are many endangered animals and plants in the world today. In fact, it’s mad scramble to find the funds and people willing to step outside their comfort zone and help. One of the best investments humanity can make would be to teach the young children how to make caring for animals and their welfare a way of life. Thus, in the future when a child asks, “What’s an endangered animal,” it would be in reference to a time in the past when animals’ survival were threatened by pollution, loss of habitat and other elements.

One classic example of an ongoing struggle is the Snow Beer versus the Tibetan antelope. It is environmentalists against a huge corporation that has gone on an expedition to promote their beer but in the process, encroaching on the breeding and natural habitat of the endangered Tibetan antelope. The marketing hype of the company is to offer prizes of a once-in-a-lifetime expedition to the Tibetan Plateau where the antelope lives. No one knows how they got the permit to do this since this is off limits to anyone but scientists and national government officials. This October, the first trip is scheduled to the dismay of conservationists whose cries are not being heard.
The worst fear is that it could be a precedent for more companies and private individuals to start making a trek towards this land where the Tibetan antelopes are being populated. The Tibetan antelope is a prized possession because of its wool. If people were allowed to enter this protected area, the antelopes could be in danger again of poaching. From a success story of near extinction to its growing population, the story appears to heading towards a major bump or setback.
